Taken

“You need better security, kid.” The flippant comment came naturally, before he could stop it. Being a smartass was a defense mechanism, something he’d used against his father, the cops, other criminals…but being a smartass wouldn’t get him the help he needed now, so Len took a second as he made his way into the room. He was still limping, but it wasn’t as bad as it had been last night.

Len dropped the bag on the floor and lifted his hands in a conciliatory gesture. “Sorry. Couldn’t stop myself. I need help, Cisco. Lisa’s been taken. I need help.”

He needed help, and he would get it – one way or another. Hopefully Cisco would cooperate. Len liked the kid enough to ask first. But if he refused, Len would do whatever was necessary to get Cisco to help him find his sister.

Cisco made a mental note to check their security system before he left for the night. He was shockingly calm about seeing Len again, despite what he had done to his brother, Dante. He watched as the man limped, wondering what had happened to the man. He let out a chuckle. “Dude, what happened to you? Your Cold gun backfire?”

A smile lingered on his face until he heard Lisa’s name. “Dude, don’t play. I don’t have the patience for this. Lisa and I talked just the other day. She’s fine. Now, what are you really here for?” He said, crossing his arms.
