“I’m really shocked no one has taught you how to stay vigilant when on patrol.” She shrugged. “I can’t say much. My first few times out people always got the drop on me.” She looked at his face. Something wasn’t right. It was as if he was trying to come up with the story or figure out what to say to her. “Cisco, you are telling me everything right?”
“I’ve never went out on patrol before, Laurel. I thought I could do it on my own. I was so wrong.” He winced as he tried to take a deep breath, feeling a tightness in his side. His eyes met hers and he felt his face get warm. “Of course I’m telling you everything, what do I have to hide?” Just being in the same room with Laurel made his heart beat faster. His mind went back to the days as he made the canary cry for his friend, and the happiness that it brought her when he gave it to her. “I would never hide something from you, Laurel.”
