Taken

Even though he recognized the voice, Len was having a hard time gathering his thoughts. He couldn’t think of any reason anyone other than Lisa would be near him while he slept. He was alarmed, and a little pissed off. It was difficult, but Len managed to pry his eyes open, ready to fight whoever was so close to him without his permission. His body was otherwise inclined, a sudden, overall ache settling over him as awareness grew, his head throbbing at the sudden light.

He winced and turned his head to the side, trying to make sense of how and why he felt like crap. As his eyes cleared, he saw that it was Cisco who was beside him. Most of his anger melted away, to be replaced by confusion.

“What the hell, Cisco?” Len asked, voice hoarse, mind bleary from sleep. “What are you doing here? Why are you…why are we holding hands?”

Cisco was wandering about the lab, trying to pass the time as the tests were run. Len was sleeping in the medbay, and he was way too quiet for Cisco’s comfort. He walked over to the man and stood a few feet from the bed, watching the (extremely) slow rise and fall of the man’s chest. Just to be sure he was still alive, Cisco took a few steps toward the man, closing the gap between them. He took Len’s hand into his own, running through the steps Caitlin taught him on how to take a pulse. He was so focused on finding the man’s pulse, he didn’t realize he had stirred.

“Oh Len, Hey!” Cisco said, flopping the man’s hand to wave. “I was checking your pulse. You were sleeping too soundly for my comfort.” He said, realizing he was still holding the man’s hand. He gentle placed Len’s hand on his chest and took a few steps away. “Feeling better?”
