“I just know, Anthony. My name is Elena Gilbert. You’re my little brother. By two minutes. You were kidnapped when we were little. I have our birth certificates at home.” Elena paused, realizing that was a lot of information. Her heart raced as she watched for a reaction from the man. “You’re my twin, Anthony.”
“I-I mean yea we do look a lot a like but as for any relation I don’t know..perhaps you could show me the certificate cause this all sounds like some crazy shit Elena…I-I-I’m waiting for my brothers to call um…they are off doing something and they have me worried “ Anthony said nervously clearing his throat tapping his fingers trying to keep himself in check not wanting to loose control of his powers.
Elena was biting the inside of her lip – a nervous habit she really needed to knock. “Here. I have them here,” she responded, pulling the folded up papers from her back pocket. “Look, Elena Gilbert and Anthony Gilbert. I have other things at home, like newspaper clippings about the kidnapping. I have a whole crime map. I’ve been haunted by it everyday since you were taken.” Elena began to bite the inside of her lip again while her hands played with a drink stirrer she found on the bar.
“Um how little is little? Cause we couldn’t have been that little if you remember me” he said as he took the paper and looked at it distracted by all of this completely forgetting about making the drink. He looked at the paper curiously before slowly looking up pursing his lips together fidgeting “I remember a strange couple had me and insisted they were my parents and that’s when my brothers and my father who passed saved me..the couple was trying to use me as a weapon because of my powers”
“I was old enough to be traumatized by it,” Elena explained, twirling the drink stirrer between her nimble fingers. “I think we were five, maybe just barely five. I don’t know,” she shook her head, shaking the memory from her mind. “We were leaving the house to go pick up our birthday cake. You and I ran outside and Mom was looking for her keys.” Elena couldn’t bring herself to look at the other man. The memories were hard for her to remember because she buried them long ago. “We were chasing each other around the car when I saw someone grab you. Suddenly, you were gone.” She shook her head again, actually shaking the memories that haunted her away from her mind. “You were gone in an instant, and nobody knew what happened. Nobody believed me.” Elena paused. “Wait, brothers? Father? Powers?”
