“That, and there’s vulnerability in being in the hospital, being injured…” Tom trailed, his eyes glancing down at the other’s thumb grazing across his own knuckles. “I don’t want you to think I’m taking advantage of you or anything,” he said, running a hand through his mop of hair.

“Oh I see, and if I wasn’t in here currently you’d be fine with asking me out? Then I suppose we could just talk until they send me out and then we can go from there after I’m good to go” Gerald offered giving a small shrug of his shoulders giving a grin the now usual mischievous glint now back in his eyes

“Honestly, yeah,” Tom nodded. His paramedic training cursing him in this moment. Stupid vulnerability training, he thought to himself. He locked eyes with the other, the grin bringing a smirk to his face. “I mean, If you ask me out it would probably be fine, right?”

“If it was the other way around at this current point in time?” He asked the other curiously tilting his head a bit blushing itching his nose before fidgeting looking to the machines and then back to the other “it would be different if I asked?”

Tom leaned forward onto the bed railing once more. His eyes followed with Gerald’s to the monitor and back. “I mean, I don’t really know. I just know that I do want to date you, even if that means we wait until you are discharged.”

“Okay well if it’s different with me asking then I’m asking currently if you would like to go on a date once I’m out of here?” He asked giving his own little smirk letting out a small hum batting his eyes playfully.

Tom’s heart practically melted, watching the other’s face. He let his fingers brush the other’s as he hummed happily. “I’d love to. I can take you out to this little diner. They have the best waffles in town. You’ll love it,” Tom grinned, his eyes twinkling as he tilted his head.
