20. our muses have been taken hostage by someone

Light assaulted his vision as a blindfold was torn from his face. As his vision came into focus, he saw Sally sitting across from his, tied to a chair much like he was. Their captors were no where to be seen, having slipped from the room while the two captives were regaining their bearings. Stefan blinked several times in succession, in an attempt to clear his vision faster. “Sally? Are you okay? Did they hurt you?” His voice was filled with worry for the woman he cared so much about.
“I’m fine,” she coughed, something obviously wrong in her voice.
“No, you’re not,” he responded, seeing the red that had spread over her shirt. Despite them both having supernatural healing abilities, they must have laced the weapon with wolfsbane to interfere with her healing. Stefan tried to break through his bonds, grunting and groaning as he felt the bonds refuse to give way. “We’ll figure a way out of this. I promise,” Stefan’s eyes locked with Sally’s, his green orbs piercing hers.
Just then, the door behind Stefan swung abruptly open, metal harshly slamming into the wall, causing the pair of hostages to flinch. Stefan felt a pair of hands touch both his temples before a searing pain crashed into his head.

“No! Stop!” Sally screamed, being forced to watch as Stefan was tortured.
“Not until we figure out where they are,” the masked captor spit out. Sally pulled against her restraints, trying to get out to help Stefan.
“Where who are?” Sally practically spit back at the other as Stefan’s face contorted in pain.
“He knows,” the captor responded, a malicious look in their eye.
“No,” Stefan yelled out in a painful gasp. “I can’t. They’re…family.”
“Wait, Damon? Elena?” Sally asked in an almost hushed whisper. Stefan gave the smallest nod of his head, indicating to the woman that she was right.
“Where are they?” The assailant pressed their fingers harder to Stefan’s temples, causing a sudden jolt of pain to sear through his body. “I’ll know if you’re lying, Salvatore.”
“Mile marker 10, old route 12,” Stefan gasped, the pain getting ten times worse before it being gone just as quickly as it had arrived. He sighed as he felt the bonds around his wrist give way. The door slammed shut behind the captor, causing Stefan to wince in pain at the loud sound. Stefan sat for a moment, head in hands as Sally stared at him in both concern and relief.
As his supernatural healing took care of the headache in seconds, Stefan clamored over to Sally. His hands went immediately to her face, his eyes searching hers.
“They’re going to be fine, they’re driving away from here. They know they’re being hunted. They know to not stop moving,” Stefan assured her. He knew that they were just as much her family as they were hers. “They’re going to be fine. We’re going to be fine.” The hunt for the Salvatore brothers had started a few months ago, when both their scars had opened up. They both went on the run, going their separate ways in order to increase their chances of survival. Stefan’s scar ached as he felt the hunter approach. Sally could sense something was off in Stefan, and her eyes searched his for clues. “I just want you to know, whatever happens, that I love you.” Stefan began to cough as vervain smoke began to filter into the room.
”What? Why are you saying it like that?” Sally said, both anger and concern being heard in her voice.
”Just-” Stefan started, clearing his throat before continuing. “Just know that I love you.”
Just then, the door swung open once again, and Stefan stood as quickly as he could to stand protectively in front of Sally. “Leave her out of this,” he growled, staring down the hunter.
“No promises,” the hunter spit back, sauntering forward towards the vampire, spear in hand. Sally could only sit with tears forming in her eyes. “No, you can’t! Stefan, no-” Her words were choked out when the hunter plunged the spear into Stefan’s gut, his eyes closing before he collapsed to the ground.
