It had been a few days since Amelia had been taken to the hospital, by her brother. She had bruises all over her body and it hurt like hell.
Oliver wanted to go with their father, help him with the company but their mother had made sure, she would go so he could stay with Amelia. Sighing deep at first, she smiled when she saw Oliver returning with a milkshake. “It’s your favorite.” He smiled. Amelia chuckled softly. “Thank you, Ollie.”
The smile disappeared when she saw him “Alex….” She whispered “What are you doing here?” She looked at Oliver “Please stay?”
Oliver nodded. “I will.” He promised “What are you doing here, Alex?” He frowned @heart-on-her-sleeve
Amelia had taken some time off from college to let her body and mind heal. Laying on the couch, she watched tv but soon enough fell asleep. She had been so tired lately, glad she was able to stay home.
Alex had been in rehab for several weeks now, and he honestly was miserable. Withdrawal was much harder than he thought it would be, and the thought of coming home to Amelia was the only think keeping him in line. He thought about checking himself out several times, only to have Oliver somehow finding out and showing up, arms crossed and intimidation seeping from his being. He didn’t have to even say anything for Alex to turn on his heel and stay in rehab. After several weeks of good behavior, Alex was granted a visit home with a court-mandated (Oliver mandated) chaperone. He’d been waiting for this day, and he was going to go all out for Amelia on this trip home.
On the way to Amelia’s place, Alex had first stopped at the florist and picked out a bouquet of flowers for her, then made a quick stop at a grocery store for some chocolates and a large stuffed animal. He juggled the items as he made his way up to the front door, unlocking it with his key and stepping in. He saw Amelia right away, fast asleep on the couch with the TV still playing. He set the gifts down before sitting by her feet, placing a gentle hand on her foot. “Amelia, I’m home, baby. I’m home.”
