“Yeah, I heard about Peter. He’s kind of scary, don’t you think?” Tom shrugged. “I think I might just stay away from those two, yeah?” He got up from where he was sitting, still leaning heavily against the wall. “I should, uh, probably go back to work,” Tom said, clearing his throat after his voice wavered.
She stood up, smiling. “He is. He also thinks he is so loved.” Ashley smirked, but then looked at him. “Are you okay?” she looked concerned. “You don’t look okay, to be honest.”
Tom took a step, but his head went swimming and he caught himself on Ashley’s shoulder before he nearly took a tumble. He leaned back against the wall and took a deep breath, closing his eyes. “I, uh, woke up this morning with a headache. But not a-a- usual headache. It felt different,” His voice was strained as he spoke. His head felt like it was being wrapped in a vice grip.
She helped him on the bed. “And you still decided to work? You’re staying here.” Ashley sent her friend a text with the message, he was not feeling well. Then she called her brother Scott, his boss and their friend Deaton and…. Derek. Yes, he had a dark past but he knew about this stuff and she trusted him “I called a few people to help you. We will find out soon, what is going on.”
“Patients need paramedics,” he strained, his headache piercing across his skull. He squeezed his eyes shut, and visions of his doppleganger flashed across his eyelids. He didn’t hear anything from the vision, but he just knew.
Tom gasped suddenly, sitting up in the bed. “They’re coming.”
