“You really can’t go wrong with ginger snaps,” Ray smiled, plopping down at the table. He grabbed a ginger snap, taking a bite before continuing. “During Hannukah, my grandparents would always make the sweets. Sufganiyot and rugelach are the traditional names, and they’re delicious. I think I have a recipe somewhere.”

“I … have no idea what those words mean, but I am interested.” Nate took the two mugs that appeared, moving to sit across from him, “What do they taste like, and look like? My mom wasn’t so much a cook, as a … letting dad have everything catered so she could have a glass off wine.”

“Well, sufganiyot are similar to jelly doughnuts sprinkled in powdered sugar, and rugelach are like pinwheel cookies. Flaky dough with either chocolate, cinnamon, or jam in the swirl,” Ray mused, taking another bite of his cookie, finishing it off. “Maybe catered food was the way to go? That way it practically had to be good, right?”
