Stefan stepped back as Johnathan slouched to the ground, taking the handkerchief and wiping his mouth. “ Not who I was hoping for, but delicious nonetheless, ” he commented, his eyes darting to the body, now looking like a drunkard passed out in the shadows. “ You see, there’s this list that I keep. Each name is written down to relive, nay, relish the kill again and again. ”
This new information deeply intrigued Klaus. His eyebrows lifted and a grin spread across his features. ❝ Is that so ? Well then, we’re not so unlike, you and I, ❞ he told Stefan. The box of letters he kept in his flat could prove that. Before he could explain that, though, there was a giggle and his eyes instantly locked onto the sound. A woman was waving goodbye to her friend, then attempting to light a cigarette as she walked down the alley towards the vampires. ❝ My turn, ❞ Klaus said with a smirk before speeding away and appearing just in front of her.
Startled, the woman stopped and looked up. ❝ Oh ! Jeepers, you startled me, ❞ she said with a laugh. Klaus said nothing and instead pulled out his silver lighter, flicking it open with a flame for her. She smiled at him, reading seduction in his eyes. As she leaned forward to light the cigarette between her lips, that’s when Klaus pounced on her. She barely had time to scream before her words were lost in her throat as he drank deeply.
“ Interesting, ” Stefan mused, his head cocking to the side before nodding at his new friend as he darted off. He watched closely, his eyes narrowed as he watched Klaus work. Not a word to his prey…interesting. He drank in the sight, his head lolling slowly on his shoulders as one predator watched another.
Walking a few steps closer, Stefan waited until the other had finished before offering his own handkerchief. “ How else might you and I be similar? ” His voice was that of inquiry as he straightened his suit jacket, stuffing the soiled handkerchief into his pocket, out of sight.
