“Mm-hm,” He responded, his hand reaching out for Amelia’s. As the nurse came in, she administered the pain medication. As the medication kicked in, Ray slowly opened his eyes and looked at Amelia. “I’m not leaving. I’m staying right here.”
As soon as Ray was released from the hospital, he convinced Oliver to distract Amelia while he ran – well, hobbled back to the Waverider to pack up the essentials. His tools, clothes, souvenirs, and the ring.
As Ray approached the Waverider, memories came flooding back of the battle. He stopped dead in his tracks, leaning heavily against the wall of the Waverider as pain flashed across his head along with more memories. He took a few deep breaths and addressed the AI on the ship. “Gideon?” “Yes, Mr. Palmer?” She replied, a hologram popping up over the main set of controls. “I need you to retrieve Amelia’s Ring.” “Of course! It will be in your quarters.” “Thank you, Gideon,” Ray smiled, moving quickly towards his quarters. As the door slid open, Ray stopped in his tracks. After the battle, he must have run in here looking for the ring. Looking to protect it for Amelia. His Amelia. There were pieces of his suit scattered everywhere, some spattered in blood. He pushed the memories from his mind as he refocused on the task at hand – retrieving Amelia’s ring.
There it was, sitting in it’s box, dead center on his end table. His mouth pulled into a smile as he approached it, pulling the top open.
“Still just as perfect as the day I found it. Perfect Ring for the perfect woman.”
Ray sighed a happy sigh when he felt Amelia next to him again. It was as if life was complete again. “Hey Oliver? Thank you, again. Will you stay and make sure nobody comes to finish me off?” He asked with a very nervous laugh.
Ray moved his thumb back and forth on Amelia’s hand, feeling the warmth of her skin beneath his. “I just can’t believe it. We’re going to be parents.”
She chuckled soft, feeling happy once more. “I know.” Amelia smiled “I’m so happy, our child will be loved by both of the parents.”
A tear left the corner of her eye. “I was so worried. I couldn’t do anything, since Oliver won’t let me go with him. He thought it was too dangerous.”
His free hand moved to her abdomen, his thumb moving in circles. “Me too. Amelia, this is the best thing that’s ever happened to us.” Ray leaned his head on hers, letting out a small sigh. “Oliver is right. It’s far too dangerous out there for you. I’ll work with Felicity and Cisco to get some higher security measures on our place. We’ll have to pick our nursery colors and get a registry together and baby proof the house…” Ray’s speech sped up with each new thought until his voice trailed off. “So much to do,” he whispered, utterly overwhelmed by all of his thoughts.
Propose. He thought finally, his lips pursed in a thin line.
She sat up, smirking. “I’ll work with Felicity and Cisco to get higher security. You need to heal and recover first, Raymond Palmer. “Amelia spoke seriously, looking at Oliver, smiling.
Looking back at Ray, Amelia cupped his cheek, pressing her lips on his for a kiss. “We still have time. The baby won’t be here for another 4 and a half months.” She promised.
“And to be honest, as much as you wanted to do the nursery with me… I already worked on it, together with Caitlin and Felicity. To surprise you when you got back to me.” She smiled
“You can bet I’m going to work on the best damn baby monitor out there,” Ray grinned before his face twisted in pain. He felt a twinge of pain in his head, and as much as he tried to fight it, his face showed it. He realized how right Amelia was. He really did need to rest, as his list of injuries was far longer than usual. “Okay.” He brought a hand to his head, massaging his temple.
“You’re right. Rest.” He blinked, wanting to smile knowing how far along she was and knowing that they were surrounded by people who loved and cared for them. A splitting headache descended upon him so quickly, he hardly knew how to handle it. “Oh, my head,” he groaned, his eyes closed tight and his head tilted away from the light.
“Explain to me again why I’m locked up when I was simply trying to defend myself?”
“Um, maybe because you tried to bite me? Sally, we’ve talked about this. your bite will kill me.” Stefan sat just out of reach, sipping on his bourbon. “You can’t keep doing putting me in this situation.”
Amelia smiled. “Of course. He obviously likes it more then me.” Raising a brow, she smirked “Any chance of letting me choose how to let you make it up?”
“Yeah?” Ray teased, releasing her arm and kissing her neck once more. “How did I get the jump on you, Miss ‘5 years of league training?” He teased, a chuckle escaping his lips.
“I wasn’t ready.” Was the only thing she said. “Besides, my neck is one of my soft spots.” Amelia softly moaned, biting her lowerlip.
“Oh? I thought members were always supposed to be ready?” Ray teased once more, his voice at a whisper, breath tickling her skin. “Shall we bring this elsewhere?” He asked, his arm wrapping around her waist and peppering kisses at the top of her spine.
Ray sighed, “I mean, self defense classes can never hurt, but I still don’t feel comfortable letting you throw yourself into inevitable danger.” He paused, locking eyes with Grace and he felt a feeling of guilt wash over him. “Sara, I know how you fight, and you’re good. Grace, if you want to learn, learn from Sara. She’s the best of the best.” Ray switched his gaze to Sara. “Just, let’s not learn killing yet, hmm?”
Sara shook her head. “I wouldn’t even dare.” She winked
Grace chuckled softly. “No worries, big brother. I don’t even like to kill a spider.”
Sara smiled “Let’s train after lunch? Then you have a light foundation in you.”
Grace looked at her brother “I’m sure I will be good at this, in no time.”
Ray pointed a playful finger at Sara. “You better not,” he smiled.
He came back after lunch to the two ladies training. He entered quietly and watched from the edge of the room.
Grace picked up the training really good, beating Sara for a few times
“Damn, Grace.” Sara smiled with approval, standing up again “You’re good.”
“Still not comfortable with this, you know.” Ray said from his position. “It’s far too dangerous for you, in my opinion. I hope you know that that opinion won’t change.” He took a few steps toward the two women. “It will always be too dangerous, for any of us.”

“Right. Names. I’m Thomas Avery, but you can call me Tom. You are-?”
