The doctor looked to Tom when Jesse didn’t acknowledge him. "Jesse? What color do you like best? They have every color you can imagine!” Tom asked, his hand rubbing circles on her back. “Or do you want Daddy to pick for you?” He added, knowing she was probably overwhelmed and overstimulated from the new environment.
Scott could sense another in the area, it was like the hair on the back of his neck was standing on end. With red eyes glowing, he scanned the forest. “Who’s there?”
When Conner came to the DEO after school, he wasn’t expecting Superman to be there. And he definitely wasn’t expecting Superman to approach him – though maybe he should have. Conner knew Kara told her cousin about him, it was only a matter of time before he showed up to see for himself. Nevertheless, he was unprepared. “We’ve never met. I’m Conner Luthor.” The DEO was the one place he got to use his real name – a breath of fresh air after a forever of anagrams. “I’m..your son. Kinda.”
“Right! Conner! It’s a pleasure,” he extended a hand to the young man, a grin stretched across his face. He’d swooped in just minutes prior to the boy’s arrival, not expecting to be meeting him so soon. He was a father, it wasn’t new to him. But being a father to someone he was just learning about? That was a new one. Despite the new-ness of the situation, Clark already had a soft spot for the kid. “Kind of? I can work with that.”
He smelled the burning pastry before her heard Lois’ voice. They’d decided to try and bake one of Martha Kent’s famous pie recipes from scratch on a Saturday afternoon. “Oh?” Clark grinned, moving over to help Lois in the kitchen. “Can I safely say ‘I told you so’ without you shooting me a look?” His hands moved swiftly as he removed the smoking pie from the oven. “I knew we should have set a timer.”
