“It’s not that I don’t trust you-” Cisco started before Hartley suddenly scampered away from him. The words Hartley said brought tears to his eyes. Was that really what he thought? “I trust you, Hartley! I would never do any of those things! I’m just not really ready to tell my family and take another shot to my already shattered mental state.” Cisco thought about physically reaching out to Hartley, only to pull his arms and legs closer to his body instead. “I love you Hartley. More than I have ever loved anything or anyone.” He paused, wiping his eyes with one of his hands. “No estoy listo para enfrentarlos.”  Cisco mumbled after a decent amount of silence, hiding half his face behind his knees.

“You have no reason to love me. And I’m not going to stand in the closet again just because another man that I thought I was in love with viewed me as a defect. As a blemish to be covered up just because he’s scared to tell his mom and dad,” Hartley spit out. “I won’t be an experiment, Cisco. I won’t do this half-way.”

“You’re not a defect.” Cisco whispered. It was taking everything in him to not burst out in tears. “Why- Why are you even still here if you think all of this?” He whimpered, pulling his legs in closer. “And you’re not an experiment.”

Fading Light {Cisco, Len, Lisa}

Len was just relieved that Cisco was going to go with him willingly. Len held off on saying anything more to the kid. He was preoccupied with thoughts of Lisa, and how he was going to move her.

They had barely been in her room for a few seconds before the notebook was ripped from his hands and a furious note was scribbled in it. He glanced down at the note and grimaced. “I’m sorry, sis. I should have warned you. He’s gonna try to help us. He has visions and stuff. Maybe he can figure out how to help you.”

Lisa angrily snatched the notebook back up, but didn’t write a thing. Instead, she threw it at her brother’s head. Then she marched over to Cisco, slapped him, open palm, across the face, then proceeded to try and push him out of the room. “GET OUT!” she screamed.

@frost-master, @fransciscoramon

Cisco jumped as the notebook landed at their feet. What the hell? He kept his hands shoved in his pockets to keep himself from biting at his fingers. “Visions and stuff? There’s a lot more to my powers than that, Snart.” Cisco quipped as the notebook flew at Len’s head. He couldn’t help but snicker at the man’s misfortune. The smiled was wiped from his face as he felt a hand strike him across the face. “Lisa? Lisa, is that you? Let me explain myself. Please, give me a chance!” Cisco pleaded as he felt a strong force trying to push him away.

“Honestly, that would be awesome,” Jesse told Cisco. She knew of Cisco, but she didn’t remember meeting him when she was rescued by her father and Jay. “Um, I’m Jesse,” she told him with a smile, extending a hand for a shake. “Jesse Wells.” she clarified.

“Hey Jesse, I’m Cisco. I’m normally around the lab more, but I’ve been on a break for my health. Wait, Wells? I didn’t know Harrison had a kid.” Cisco said, raising his eyebrows. “So, Kraft Mac and Cheese? I’ll go check the break room and get it started. Wanna come, or are you working on something?”

Hartley stiffened, his body completely rigid. “You don’t trust me to take care of you. You don’t love me enough to come out of the closet. Because of some anonymous people. You said you loved me, Cisco. I don’t like liars. I don’t like being a secret. I don’t like being told I’m not good enough.” Suddenly, Hartley’s body jerked to life and he scrambled away from Cisco’s embrace. “You’re just like all of the others. You say you love me just because it’s what I want to hear. Because it’s what it will take for me to give you my life. But you’re going to call me a faggot to your friends. You’re going to flirt with girls in front of me just to make me jealous and then hit me in private if I say that I don’t like it. You’re just like the others. I won’t be your closet case. I won’t be your gay secret to use in private and scorn in public. I won’t go back to the place I was before.” By the end of it, Hartley’s voice was shattered, breaking on almost every word and his fists were balled. The rage. The embarrassment. The sadness. “I thought you were better. I believed you. And I was stupid. I was so MORONIC. I wanted to believe you so hard. I wanted to believe that the man who TORTURED me. With my disability. And you enjoyed it. I was so foolish to believe that that man could love me. I have a type. Men who destroy me. And it’s always the same. Every time I believe them.” Hartley’s fists were balled so tightly that his nails were actually drawing blood on his palm but Hartley didn’t even notice.

“It’s not that I don’t trust you-” Cisco started before Hartley suddenly scampered away from him. The words Hartley said brought tears to his eyes. Was that really what he thought? “I trust you, Hartley! I would never do any of those things! “Are we together? Are you my boyfriend?”

“Um-” Cisco brought his hand up to scratch the back of his neck. He knew this was coming along eventually. “We are together, yeah. I don’t know if I’m ready to go fully public with it just yet. I mean, I’ve been getting some weird messages on my phone and on social media, and it’s just making me feel more and more nervous about what people will think about me being bi. You know how mean people can be.” Cisco rambled before biting his thumbnail to shut himself up.

“There was no pretending. That was a sincere attempt. I really don’t appreciate these comments, Helena.” Cisco said, continuing his persuit to get out. “I can’t stay connected with someone that is toxic.” He stopped in his tracks, realizing what he’d just said. That wasn’t him. What was going on? Cisco blinked hard a few times trying to rid the darkness from his vision. He needed to get home. Fast. “Helena, I-I’m sorry.” He breathed before running off.

“I know it was an attempt. That’s why it was cute. You’re genuine. Everything about you.” Helena watched Cisco run off, feeling the void starting to swallow her back up. The heaviness in her soul weighed her down too heavily to try to run after him and she brought her left hand up to her crucifix, holding it in her palm and bringing her hand to her lips, kissing her ring finger gently, right where the ring should have been. She closed her eyes, willing herself to feel something but the numbness. When she opened her eyes, Cisco had disappeared behind some buildings.
