Practically Family | Cisco & Caitlin

Caitlin unloaded the groceries from the trunk, the vinyl material of her new car scratched the pads of her fingers. Since the attack, it seemed she’d upgraded to the newest model. A way to erase the memory from her mind. She worried more about Cisco, the only friend she could protect, had gone rogue and was now holed up in his apartment. There had to be way in which to contain his vibes for long enough to him to take control of his own will. Taking the stairs slowly, Caitlin contemplated the thought of telling Cisco about her own meta struggles. Then again, did she want to see the crushing looking on his face. “Cisco?” she knocked softly on the door, clutching the stuff closer to her chest.

Cisco practically ran to the door when he heard Caitlin’s voice at the door. He hadn’t seen the woman in a while, and he missed her. “Cait! Hi! Please, come inside!” He said, holding the door open for the woman. “Did you buy groceries? You didn’t have to. I was going to go out tomorrow and buy stuff. Thank you, though.” Cisco realized he was talking really fast and kind of loud, so he started biting his nails, a nervous habit he’d been trying to break for years. “How are you?”

Len hesitated. He didn’t like to be touched, and he wasn’t sure he was thrilled with the idea of Cisco needing to touch him. In the end, he decided it might be worth it, if Cisco could see how badly he’d hurt Lisa. So Len finally nodded. “All right. Go for it.”

Cisco gave the man a small smile before reaching forward and touching the man’s arm. Suddenly, the vibe hit him like a ton of bricks. He squeezed his eyes shut as the memories came rushing back to him. The encounter with Len in the alleyway, the encounter with Lisa. Oh no. Cisco felt sick to his stomach. He drew back his hand as if he touched a hot plate and quickly buried his face in his hands, the only way he could keep his emotions at bay. “I cannot believe I did that. Len, I’m so, so sorry.”

Hart: I want to see you.
Hart: I don’t want you to see me but I don’t really have a choice anymore.
Hart: God, Cisco. Why did you have to complicate my life. I was so content with hating people. I was fine on my own.
Cisco: I was told you were being shy. Hart, you don’t have to see me. I’ll still be here. I’m not going anywhere. I complicate a lot of things. I’m sorry.

“What the hell is vibing?” Len asked warily. The kid looked earnest about it not hurting Len, but he wasn’t about to let Cisco go full meta on him without at least knowing what to expect.

“Vibing is this thing where I can touch someone or something and be able to see memories and moments, either past or future. I’m learning to control it, but I know how to direct it. If there’s somethng highly emotional that happened with me, then I’ve learned to direct it towards that. It’s how I’m figuring out what I did when I was off the grid. I did it with Hartley and someone else and I learned a whole hell of a lot.” Cisco sighed, realizing he was rambling a little.

Hart: I told you when I turned it on. You had to have known that I couldn’t hear it. How am I supposed to take that. How am I supposed to react to this over text? I don’t understand, Cisco.
Cisco: I don’t have an internal stopwatch. I didn’t know when it was going to turn on! I’m sorry I was too late in saying it, okay? I should have said it sooner. I’m sorry I ever brought it up. Sorry I screwed up

Practically Family | Cisco & Caitlin

Cisco sat in his apartment, picking at his TV dinner as he texted back and forth with Caitlin. The initial text brought a smile to his face, and it stayed throughout. Cisco was taking a break from STAR Labs after everything happened. He still wasn’t feeling completely himself yet, and until he did, he wasn’t going back. He couldn’t risk his friend’s safety like that. That being said, it was nice to have friends and coworkers that cared enough to check in on him.

“I’ll admit I’m surprised, but if he makes you happy why don’t you just…I don’t know, get together?”  Barry smiled a bit, watching his friend and frowning a bit at his last words.  “You do.  And good.  Maybe not.  Give me another reason to be jealous you can get drunk.”

“There are reasons. Mostly family things. I’d love to, but I don’t know if either of us are ready to go fully public with it yet.” Cisco said, grabbing a handful of bar peanuts. He motioned to the barkeep with his free hand for another. “Health. schmelth. Oh. Sorry Bar. I should work on another drink so you can get drunk. this time in a higher quantity.”
