“So I’m a cougar, huh? That’s weird. Never thought I’d be into a younger guy. And they are a real thing because I saw him and a weird guy named Jay is from another earth and I exist there too but I’m still happy which is weird. But you need to cut it. You’d look so suave.” Hartley wrinkled his nose at Cisco ignoring him and scooted closer to him, glaring a bit and sulking, pointedly not looking at the movie at all.

“Not a chance.” Cisco said, tucking his hair behind his ears. He tried to focus on the movie, but Hartley was esentially pouting, and it was making him feel guilty. He threw some of his blanket over the man’s lap and pulled the old ‘yawn and stretch’ move and put him arm around his shoulders.

He had been crashing at Star Labs, lately. The little cots downstairs were super uncomfortable, but he felt he had it better than some people. There were days Jay would speed off to his apartment now that he had his speed, but not often. His work around Star Labs was always the same. Running to get faster, testing his abilities, keeping himself up to par. With Zoom showing his face, things had got interesting. At least Caitlin and Harrison seemed to be on his team. He was in the process of going through paperwork when he noticed Cisco in the monitor. He had been brought up to speed about the kid, and part of Jay felt sorry for him. Especially since he was trapped in that prison. He grabbed a water out of the fridge, deciding he’d rather try talking to the kid again not that he didn’t have use of his powers. He was in the pipeline pretty quickly, a bright flash of orange appearing right before Jay did. “You weren’t trying to sleep.” He points out with a chuckle. Jay’s always been a friendly person, but he had to admit he is on guard around Cisco. After their last run in, he didn’t trust him – but he had to try. “I brought you another drink. Caitlin and Barry have left for the day.” He should have left too, but there were still things he needed to do. He hands the water over, crossing his arms over his chest. “How are you holding up?”

Cisco watched as the doors opened to his cell. “Just about as well as one could after losing three weeks of memory.” He sighed, breaking the seal on the water as he turned the cap. “Uh, who are you? I don’t recognize your face. Are you a new hire at STAR Labs?” Cisco wasn’t usually wary around new people, but there was definitely something different about this guy. It was as if they had met before, but Cisco couldn’t put his finger on when or where, so he assumed they met in college. “I gotta warn you. I’m not the safest right now. Or apparently ever. It’d be best to just stay away.”

Hartley ignored his question. “How old are you? And what’s your real family like? All I know is that you have issues. And what’s the deal with The Flash these days? And did you know that there’s someone that looks exactly like Dr. Wells but isn’t? And what do you know about this kid named Griffin. He knows your sister. Is probably in love with her but he was too shy to say so. PLUS, why haven’t you cut your hair yet?”

“26. They’re alright. Rude. I have no idea. No? Are you crazy? Dopplegangers aren’t a real thing. Griffin and Vi had a thing. My hair is lucious and I am not cutting it anytime soon.” Cisco said in one breath, amused by the man’s rambling questions. “Movie. Now shhhh.” Cisco smiled, patting Hartley’s head and pressing play on the remote.

“No no…I deserved that. You’re never a burden Cisco.  Ever.”  Tears shone in his eyes but he tried to hide them, ducking his head and taking a deep breath.  “Yeah, um I’ll definitely be getting you stuff…and you won’t be alone for long ever, okay?  Vi will come see you, and I’ll be back, and Caitlin’s around cause of Jay, and..yeah.  We’ll have this figured out and have everything back to normal soon.”

Cisco could hear the hurt in his friend’s voice, but there was nothing he could do to comfort the man. “I’m sorry, Barry.” Cisco whispered, his voice cracking.
I wish my family never brought me and my brother to Central City. I wish I’d never met Harrison Wells. I wish I’d never worked at STAR Labs. We would have never met, Barry. I wouldn’t have these powers, and maybe this would have never happened. I would have never fallen off the deep end and hurt so many people. I would have never hurt you.
“I’m so, so sorry, Barry.” Cisco said, covering his face to stop the tears from falling. “This is all on me.”

Cisco sat in the pipeline cell, knees to his chest, and his head resting on his knees. He’d been trying to remember the last few weeks for quite some time, but it only left him with a nasty headache. He heard faint footsteps through the sealed door and waited to see who he’d see come around the corner.  “Barry? Cait?” Cisco’s voice cracked on Barry’s name. After not talking for hours and finishing his drink a while back, his throat was fairly dry. His cleared his throat before beginning again. “I’m fine guys, no need to check on me. I’m just trying to sleep.” He knew that if they’d been watching the monitor, it was clear he hadn’t been trying. He was stuck with his thoughts, as he almost always was.

“You either let me be or I will knock you on your ass for the third time. And this  time, you won’t get back up.” Cisco snapped, turning on his heels and glaring at the man from behind his goggles. “Don’t test me.”

“Suit yourself. If Barry Allen dies. I really hope you can get over the self-loathing you’ll end up having for yourself.” He’s done playing these games. Done chasing down people he may or may not need in this fight. At this point, he feels he would have had a better chance at getting through to Reverb. He doesn’t offer Cisco another glance as he turns his back on the metahuman, heading back in the direction he originally came from.

e2jaygarrick:

“Wait.” He always found himself chasing after people. Jay was many things, but he didn’t lie about Zoom and what he was capable of. He may lie about the things he’s done to give himself a better image, but when it came to Zoom – he had no reason to lie. He needed help stopping him and at this point, he didn’t care if he got it from Team Flash or not. “Your powers. Your doppelganger had something similar. You’ve just yet to embrace them as much as he had.” Jay holds out his hand, not walking towards the kid. “Vibe me. I can assure you nothing I am saying is me feeding you stories. Zoom is a danger to everyone. Not to just Barry Allen – or to me. Everyone. Regardless of you wanting to hear it or not.”

“You either let me be or I will knock you on your ass for the third time. And this  time, you won’t get back up.” Cisco snapped, turning on his heels and glaring at the man from behind his goggles. “Don’t test me.”
