PSA: If something I say in my response to a thread or a meme makes your character feel a type of way, RUN WITH IT. Please don’t hide your muse’s initial reaction because you think that’s what I want to hear or what will make the thread easier to reply to. I WANT THAT INITIAL REACTION. Always. Threads are meant to be bumpy, messy, & hold challenges. It’s what makes them real. It’s what promotes growth.

Please don’t ever tone down your muse because you’re trying to please mine.

“Then I want to be a fixer, just like you.” Her fingertips suddenly stopped and her whole face crumpled up in confusion, “How do I do that? Oh, do I get a special outfit like you?” The thought of that made her eyes light up again.

Tom beamed at his daughter wanting to follow in his footsteps, and he sensed her change of demeanor. “Well, when you grow up, you get to choose what you do. You get to go to a special school where you can learn everything you need to know! Whether that’s being a paramedic like Daddy, or a nurse, or a doctor.” His voice was filled with excitement as he spoke to his daughter. “Of course! Maybe Santa will find a special outfit for you, and we can match!” Tom was hyper aware of Christmas looming around the corner and he had already found a paramedic dress-up set for his daughter – something that she had asked Santa for Christmas when they’d visited recently.

“I don’t like when she’s hurt,” she admitted before helping him to sew the button back on, when really her little fingers were just in the way. “Can I be a fixer like you? I want to fix people! And then I can help Mama, too!”

Tom was patient as he showed his daughter how to sew the button onto the doll. “Me either, honey,” he said with a sigh. His significant other was working now, and he could only imagine the trouble she was getting herself into. At his daughter’s question, a smile spread across his face. “Of course, baby! You can be anything you want to be.”
