“Probably, but throwing you out would cause too much of a scene.” Jason shrugged, tipping his glass in the other man’s direction. “I would pay you back for that drink but seeing as it is an open bar…”
“I honestly wouldn’t mind being thrown out. It’d make me look more badass than I really am.” he chuckled. “Plus, it would give me an excuse to get outta here.”
“They aren’t all they’re cracked up to be. Though at least before I was on alert for dang…I mean, yeah, they’re not that fun.” Steph blushed, realizing shed been about to casually talk about her life before. “Well…you’re talking to be okay. And I’m sure your friends want to see you. Though I’m also pretty sure everyone is wishing they were at home watching TV.”
“Yeah. I know they will all show me up with their gorgeous looks and sharp suits,” he sighed. “I’ll just be the awkward third wheel. Story of my life.”
“Ah, my exciting double-life across the country got a little stale so here I am.” He shrugged before looking Cisco up and down. “Nice outfit, by the way.” He chuckled.
“Heh- thanks,” he chuckled, sticking a hand in his sweatshirt pocket. “Double life across the country? Sounds like a party!” He grinned.
“I think you’d look handsome in one, to be honest. I wouldn’t mind seeing it but it’s always a pleasure seeing you.” She bowed her head softly, “thank you Cisco. You just know what to say to a woman.”
“Really?” He was quickly regretting not buying a suit. He wouldn’t have wore it any other time, so why waste the money? “I usually say something inappropriate, but I’ve become more comfortable around you.”
Cisco looked around at every all dressed up and quickly realized how out of place he was. I’m already here, might as well take advantage of the food and bar, right? He thought to himself as he snatched a few hors d’oeuvres from a passing waiter. “Why didn’t I invest in a suit and tie?” He muttered under his breath and in between bites.
Jason chuckled a little at the familiar face in the somewhat out-of-place outfit. “I don’t think I could get away with wearing that tonight but if I could I would be following your lead in a heartbeat.”
“I don’t think I will. I’m sure somebody will give me crap for not dressing up at an expensive party like this.“ Cisco shrugged, realizing how much he was really sticking out.
“Well, I have a date tonight actually who I don’t know well, and I haven’t been to a party like this in months. I just don’t want to embarrass myself or him, you know?” Steph smiled at his words, blushing softly. “It’s alright. It’s sweet. And what has you wanting to lurk outside?”
“If it makes you feel any better, I’ve never been to a party like this. I’m hiding from people in general. My sister, my friends, the people I flirt with. If I stay out here, then I don’t have to actually talk to anyone.” Cisco shrugged. “I’d much rather be at home catching up on some tv. Me and my tv.”
“I’ve been for twenty minutes, I think I can slip away now.” Sara scoffed looking down at the thin head of her watch. Her other hand running over the soft chiffon pant suit. There was too much stimulation here and she wasn’t nearly drunk enough to handle it.
“Leaving so soon?” Cisco asked, tucking some hair behind his ear. “The party just started!”
