“I’ve been around. But I recently moved back to set up my own law practice. I’m from Central City though. And you? Have you been here a long time?”
“Lived here most of my life, I’ve gotten used to the city. Although, I never thought I would come back after college.” He said, crossing from where he stood to the wall, leaning against the wall and crossing his ankles. “You said law? What kind of clients do you work for?” Cisco’s question was awkwardly worded, like his personality.
“Good to know I’m in the presence of a fellow curious soul.” Emrys smirked a little before hesitating. While he could easily sense where Cisco’s hand was with his powers, he knew that would be a bit suspicious for a regular blind guy to just reach out and grab his hand. “Nice to meet you as well Cisco.” In response he just stuck his hand out, hoping the other would just move his hand over to his.
Cisco moved his hand to meet Emrys’ and grasped his hand, shaking it firmly. “I haven’t seen you around Central before, what brings you to the city?” Cisco smiled, releasing his grip.
Cisco waggled his eyebrows at Barry’s comment about telekinesis. “Now that would be quite the sight, wouldn’t it? Let’s go out to the airstrip where we tested your speed, Bar. That’s probably the best bet so you guys don’t get hurt.” Cisco swung his legs over the side of the bed and jumped down, holding steady to the bed as the room began to spin.
“It would be awesome.” Barry smiled brightly at him before Cisco got dizzy, the speedster touching his arm. “Do you want me to run us there? So you don’t have to walk?”
Cisco was wary of going for yet another trip faster than the speed of light, but he felt like he would be alright, so he complied. “Yeah, sure. I”m down with that. I think the water barrels are still out there, and we can always get some boxes.”
Emrys just smiled, knowing he shouldn’t say more. Just let the kid think that all blind guys could sense body heat and heartbeats. “I’m sorry. I tend to be too nosy. I’m glad you’re looking after yourself. My name is Emrys by the way.”
Still skeptical, Cisco decided to let things mellow before asking him
any more questions. “You’re fine. I’m normally pretty nosy myself.” He
chuckled, reaching a hand out to the man. “Cisco. Nice to meet you
Emrys.”
Barry smiled again and gently squeezed his friend’s shoulder. “Don’t pay attention to me. I’m just being over protective.” He smiled a little before nodding in agreement with Cisco’s plan. “You can come watch? There isn’t too much to do right now, but I’m sure Cisco’s powers are gonna be good. I’m thinking telekinisis. We haven’t seen that yet.”
Violet nodded, turning to Cisco with a slightly terrified smile. “My brother has superpowers,” she teased, booping his nose gently like she did when they first met.
Jade didn’t want to spill anymore blood, all she wanted as to know where Al Sah-him was. Was that too hard to fucking ask? She felt the presence stirring in the alley before the voice broke the deafening silence. She pointed the gun towards the girl, “oh honey, doesn’t it suck to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.” Pulling the trigger, she shot just above her head. “Go now.”
Violet immediately ducked, cowering for a moment, her hearing momentarily deafening before it came back. She stood up a bit, looking the woman in the eye. “That’s my brother. You shot my brother. I don’t know what you want. But I just met my brother for the first time a couple days ago. Don’t take him away from me. He’s the only thing I have.” She was staring so intensely at the woman behind the gun that she didn’t even notice when tears began rolling down her face and her fists balled. “Let me take him to the doctor. Please. If he hasn’t answered what you want to know yet that means he doesn’t know it,” her voice was shaking. “He’s the best person I’ve ever known.”
Cisco recognized the voice and his gut wrenched. The gunshot rang through the alley and the tears started rolling down his face. “VI!” He slouched down against the the cold brick wall, his bloodied hand falling from his shoulder. “Get out of here, you’re gonna get yourself killed!”
Violet sat down on the edge of the exam bed next to her brother, still blushing from his comment earlier. “You sound a lot better,” she said softly, gently smoothing his hair that was all messed up from the blanket. She was clearly trying to change the subject still with a bashful smile.
Barry handed off the bag of chips before sitting down and rubbing his face. They’d get food, and try to figure this out. Cause this needed to be figured out for Cisco’s sake. He needed to understand what he could do and figure out how to regulate these changes. “You should test your powers. Not in here maybe, but we should see what control you have. And maybe that’s what your headaches are…just a need to outlet your powers.’ He looked over at Cisco tiredly, the worry easy to see.
He saw the worry that was etched on Barry’s face and the smile disappeared from his own face. “Well, let’s go outside and set some stuff up for me to try and knock over….or destroy, whichever comes first I guess.” He finished off the chips by tipping his head back and dumping the crumbs into his mouth.
Violet looked thankful at his touch and leaned over slightly to rest her cheek on his shoulder, still making sure that she was touching Cisco as well. When Cisco immediately started cracking jokes and talking about food she gave him a rueful smile, lightly patting his chest. “Shut up,” she muttered, shifting away from Barry self consciously.
Barry looked at Violet when she leaned into his shoulder, a soft smile lifting his lips. He liked having her there he decided, but Cisco’s comment and her step away made him blush and rub the back o his head. “Yeah, yeah…I’m sure there’s food here somewhere. I’ll take a look around.” Stepping away he started running around, searching through everything in a blur before returning with a bag of chips. “Does this work?”
“Aw, now don’t get all self-conscious on account of my comment!” Cisco said, slowly sitting back up again as Barry sped out and back in the blink of an eye. “Yes! Chips are great!” He said, opening the bag. “We should all probably get some real food sometime today, though.” He munched on a few chips before dusting the crumbs off his fingers. “What if we tried, uh, testing my powers?” Cisco said as he shoved a few more chips in his mouth.
