Violet smiled. “Yeah, I’m new. Just got off a bus, actually. But um…” she wet her lips. “I sort of just hopped off on a whim.” That was a lie. She winced slightly at how easily it flowed from her tongue. So much for staying pure. “Don’t worry about me, though,” she said with a bright smile. “I’ll just wander and see what I find, y’know?”
“Can I at least show you around? Central City is really easy to get lost in if you don’t know where you’re going.” Cisco smiled at this girl, feeling comfortable around her. That felt odd to him, he usually didn’t take too kindly to strangers. “There’s a really great coffee place, Jitters, just down the street. Or there’s a Big Belly Burger not too far from here as well.” He glanced down at his watch. “I have a few hours to kill before I have to be back to work, if you’re up for it.”
Sara could see the strain his gaze, it was like he’d been fighting towards a prize. An ultimate goal at the end of the way and it only piqued her interests to know what it truly was. “People are sick and will do anything to win or survive really. It’s a a sad truth but one we all should contest with.” She placed her hand along his stomach, squaring his hips with her own. “It hurts because you’re not used to it. Some of these muscles have yet to be called upon which is a good thing, you’re a good guy. It’ll stop hurting soon enough, I swear.” Sara adjusted his elbow, leaving enough give for him to move with precision without overextending. “Cisco, just let it flow!”
Cisco punched the bag a few more times, this time letting the majority of the power come from his core, and this time he didn’t over extend. As he punched, he began to hum ‘Let it Go’. His punching was a little on the weak side, but he was truly trying. “Sara, thanks for helping me. I really owe you.” He smiled as he felt her hand still on his elbow. “I can make dinner again if you’d like. This time I won’t spill the pasta everywhere, promise.”
Violet looked up and was greeted by a human puppy. Honest to god, the man was easily the most innocent looking thing she had ever seen. She gave him a smile and tucked her hair behind her ears, a nervous habit. “Yeah, I’m fine,” she said, biting her lip.
“You sure? You look a little, uh, lost. Are you new to Central City?” Cisco
smiled as he tucked his hair behind his ear. He preferred to keep it
down rather than tie it back in a ponytail nowdays. The girl that was
before him looked familiar and unfamiliar all at once, and it truly
boggled his mind. “I can point you in the right direction if you’d like….” His voice trailed off.
“You do and as you should be. Not many people phase me and I’ve met many upon my travels.” Sara stared off into the distance for a moment, her mind sweeping over all the places she’d been and the placed she’d fled. All crisp memories she’d stowed away, too ashamed to recollect the things she’d done. Standing on her toes, she craned her neck to see what he was doing. A soft bit of laughter escaped her parted lips, “very good. Now keep them where you feel comfortable. Now punch the bag but do not over extend your elbow.” Sara moved to the rear where the heel of her hand rested on his elbow. “Your opponent can break your elbow if it’s taut and locked. Fluidity is an art but it is also a key skill to have.”
Cisco lightly punched the bag, first with his right hand, and then again with his left. He’d never wanted to succeed with something so much in his life before now. He wanted to impress Sara in some way, but he knew that this wasn’t it. There was no way he could impress her doing something that she did to save her life and probably so many others. His punches were weak, and they hurt his knuckles. “Break my elbow? Wow. That’s brutal.” He punched the worn leather again, this time extending his elbow just a little too far. “Why is this hurting? Is it supposed to hurt? I don’t think it’s supposed to hurt. Sara?” He rambled, turning his head to look at Sara.
Worry etched on her face for a moment before she realized what had happened. It only managed once or twice before, but she was never really able to control it. In truth, the invisiblity thing became easier for her, but the other illusion casting, the projecting her thoughts, that came harder than it was to be expected. “No”, she said quickly, shaking her head. “I gotta go.”
That was when she managed to drop a twenty at the cashier, mumbling something about the other person keeping the change before she walked out. I gotta learn to stop thinking out loud. This is so bad.
“Wait, Did I say something? I’m sorry if I did. I’m kinda weird, and I usually drive people away. So It was nice meeting you.” He said, dropping his candy and gum on the conveyer belt. The smile dropped from his face as she continued to walk out. He really hoped he would run into her again sometime.
Violet was, for the first time, completely coming up empty on what her next steps were. She had told herself that she wasn’t going to con her way into his life. Him. That’s all she could really think of the man who supposedly was her brother in some capacity. Even thinking the name was too weird. She sighed and sat down on a bench. She had been just wandering the city for the past day, not sure what to do. Who knew not doing something illegally would be so hard?
Cisco was going for a walk – something he rarely did nowdays. He saw someone sitting on the sidewalk in the distance, and it sparked his interest. As he walked closer, he stopped. “Hey, are you okay?” He usually didn’t stop to talk to total strangers, but this felt different.
“Maybe? We need something better than a maybe, Cisco.”
“Well, I think I shut it down remotely, but I won’t really know. I guess I’ll know if they reactivate it, but yeah. It’s going to be a maybe for a while.”
A half smile tugged at her, though she managed to take just one step forward in the grocery queue and dropping her stuff onto the conveyor belt. It was mostly just a deli sandwich and a bottle of water. But a moment did wash over her, she pausing for a moment before turning her head back to the male behind her. “Did I go to high school with you”, she wondered out. “Maybe I didn’t. Nevermind.” Of all the times to go invisible, you choose not to right now, she scolded herself mentally.
“We might have, I’m not sure. I was kind of a nobody, so.” His sentence was cut short when he heard a voice that sounded like hers, but her mouth didn’t move. “Did you just say something about invisibility? Nevermind, it’s just my imagination.” He laughed nervously. “Things have been pretty crazy lately, can’t really wrap my head around it.” He said, looking at the small array of candy and gum and grabbed a few suckers and a pack of gum, giving him an excuse to continue to converse with this new face.
“I will let you tie one hand behind my back, the odds will be even I swear. I will never pummel you.” She shot back with a relaxed grin, her hands easing up on the mounted pressure on his arm. “No, if I do you’ll just use your charm against me. Men like to do that and you happen to have a certain effect on me. It’s the same one Felicity has on me.” She’d dropped his hands, letting her own skim along his broad back and down his shoulders. Sara wrapped her fingers around his wrists. Her head fell back for a moment with his intrigue, “Ball up your fist and widen your stance, Cisco.”
“Oooh, I have an effect on you? I’m flattered.” Cisco grinned, knowing well that She had an effect on him as well. As she released her hold, he shook his arms out and rolled his shoulders. “Like this?” He said, speading his feet shoulder width apart and holding his balled fists just below his chin. He was glad that of all people, he was being taught by Sara. He hoped that they would somehow grow closer by her teaching him.
She ignored his first question because wasn’t relevant when he asked about all of that, she was affected too but she didn’t want to remember all of that, trying to forget, just for one night, that was all she was asking “Don’t” Muttered and looked up at him “You think that you are the only one who is feeling like this? Because I’m feeling like that too, I mean, there is no point, right? But I’ll tell you something, even if this is hard, life continue and our work too, maybe we don’t have a boss anymore but we still have our team, don’t forget that”
“I haven’t forgot, Cait. Maybe I’m just trying to forget everything that happened, heck. I am trying to forget. I don’t wanna feel like this anymore than you do. If you need me, I’ll be at the lab.” He said before turning on his heels and walking out, frustrated and afraid. He was a little angry at Caitlin, but he didn’t know why. His hands started shaking, and that’s never happened before. He figured it was best to just walk out before anything happened.
