“They were from the league and I don’t know why they’re here but they know I’m alive. I’ll get to the bottom of it, don’t worry. No one is going to hurt you, Cisco.” Sara did he best to smile, feeling the blood oozing down the curve of her back. The pain now a dull lullaby for her aching nerves, it was the weightless feeling that would get her. He effected her and she didn’t know why. He wasn’t her type and she surely wasn’t his type. He was charming though. She pulled back, feeling the deep swell in her lips. It was like she’d been shocked and all the pleasurable sensations collected there. “Anything. How are your legs?” She questions lightly poking at them.
“Well, I’m not concerned with me getting hurt, I’m more concerned with you getting killed. I’m basically a nobody.” Cisco said, taking her hand into his. He felt a a fuzzy tingle in his toes, and it slowly began to curl itself up his legs. “Well, I definitely felt something. Something amazing.” He wanted to kiss her again and again, for that feeling made him feel like he was floating on a cloud. He flexed his feet, and drew little circles with his foot, testing his ankle. “Seems to be coming back now. Still no feeling in my butt though.” He laughed.
Sara spotted the man curled up within the shadows, her heart sank. Had they hurt him? Did she have to see another person she wanted desperately to care for hurt? Crouching down before him, she placed her heads on his face hesitantly. Gingerly, Sara turned his chin slightly to get a look at the puncture wounds. It had to be the viper venom, a small douse just enough to slow them down. Her body ached with this deep burn that rippled though her veins, filling her up with such a laden feeling. “I know who did this and whatever you’re feeling right now it will fade with time.” Leaning in, she pressed a soft kiss to his lips half exploring what he could sense and the other as a way of relief. “Did you feel that?”
Cisco was staring off into space when Sara appeared in front of him. As she gently touched his face, a warm tingle was left where her fingers were. A small part of him wanted to shy away from her touch after what he’d just saw, but the other, larger part wanted to hold onto her and never let go. He’d never felt an attraction this strong before. “Who was that, and what did they want? We should probably get back to Star labs or something. I can always make us food.” Cisco laughed nervously before she pressed her lips to his. He felt like little fireworks were going off in his brain. He’d never felt like this before. As their lips parted, he was at a loss for words. “Well, that depends on what I was supposed to feel.”
Sara kept glanced over where she’d left Cisco to make sure none of the black hoods were flanking him. There were at least three on her, she couldn’t focus on her own life if his life was in peril. Sweeping her leg beneath the two men, she’d kicked their steadied blades from their fingers. She felt the rippling pain of the poison tipped steel graze the middle of her back. Sara staggered for a moment before snapping back the pipe, catching the fresh faced minion in the jaw. They all laid out along the cold concrete still breathing but left to fight for their own consciousness. “Cisco…” her fingers released the lead pipe with an echoing tap as she sprinted back towards the alley.
Cisco wanted to curl up and hide from what just happened, but he was oddly attracted to the fierce, powerful woman that just took down three (if not more) men. “Wow,” he whispered as the last guy hit the ground. He sat silent as Sara ran into the alley, still in awe. His neck stung, and he reached up and felt a bump on his neck that was sore to the touch. He sucked air in through his teeth, voicing his pain without actually swearing like he wanted to. He readjusted his body against the wall and reached down and poked his leg. There was still no feeling, and he was getting a tad worried.
Sara knew this was the league but what didn’t make sense was why they’d come for her. Malcolm had to have know they’d used the pit on her, why would he send people to kill her now? Was this a calling card to come back to the league where her legion had been signed in blood. Whatever the case was she needed to make sure that Cisco would be safe.
His eyes were beginning to burn, but still he kept fighting to keep them open. Cisco slowly felt a tingling sensation in his fingers and that sensation slowly made its way up his arms. He shook his arms out, bending his fingers and clapping to be sure all the motor functions were still there. He tried sitting up, but he still couldn’t feel anything from the waist down. He pulled himself into the shadows where neither Sara nor the people she was fighting might see him. As he sat there, he leaned against the building and watched in awe.
“If you want to learn something, I’ll gladly give you a few pointers..” she trailed off knowing feeling the hairs on her neck stand up. His words were short lived and accompanied with the soft thud. “Cisco!” She shouted moving towards his side, her fingers grazed the dart in his neck. The woman looked towards the farthest building noticing the number of black figures coming this way. She pulled his body off to the side, hoping that he’d wake up. He had to wake up. Moving with the shadows, she snapped off the relying pipes along the side of the building. The rusted decay alleviated the effort she needed to pry it form it’s resting place. Normal just wasn’t something in the card for her. She’d always be fighting and moving through space like a ghost just wandering the earth.
As Sara dragged him to the side, Cisco opened his eyes and could see everything that was happening, and he wanted to do something about it, but he couldn’t. He tried to move his arms and legs, but to no avail. He was paralyzed – temporarily, but he didn’t know that. In his mind, he felt like he was dying. He watched as Sara wrenched the pipes from the building and fought off the ninja people. What else was he suppose to call them? His eyes felt heavy, but he continued to fight to keep them open. In his mind, he would always be the one that needed saving…but hopefully not for long with Sara’s help.
Sara cleared her throat softly, Cisco just knew how to ask the million dollar questions. Her hands smoothed over her jeans as they walked, the distance between them narrowing. “I don’t think you’d approve of my job..my old job. I was in the league and I used to kill people for a living. They weren’t good people and I know you won’t understand but sometimes blood needs to be spilled to bring some form of justice. Maybe it’s just vengeance, depends on what one finds most just.” She shrugged with a slight downward curve along her lips, “now I’m a bartender at Verdant. Oliver’s club…well now Thea’s club actually.” Sara could feel eyes on the two, her body angled towards the street taking in the dew stricken pavement. Every shadow and flicker of light refracted in it seemed to carry it’s own explanation. One move uncounted for signaled trouble, ebbing far and away as if the thing that commanded the shadow was on the move. “Cisco..go inside.”
Cisco’s smile disappeared as she talked about killing people. As they walked closer and closer together, he felt their arms brush against each other with every other step. “Ooooh, a bartender? Maybe you can teach me some of your tricks.” He said, feeling Sara tense up as she looked around. He looked around as well, and saw nothing. “Why? Everything is fine, Sara. Let’s just both go inside and get some din–” His sentence ended abruptly, and he was suddenly on the ground, not sure of what was happening.
Sara couldn’t help but laugh and it felt good to really laugh again. She couldn’t recall the last time she laughed or cried. Those emotions were low in her pit because all that leaved in the confined of her heart was anger and rage. It was bottomless and daunting. There was no escape. “Great,” she slipped out of the car quickly wanting to feel stable ground beneath her feet.
Cisco turned off the car and smiled as Sara laughed, getting out along with her. The sudden silence between them made Cisco feel as if he was suffocating. He had to fill the void with some sort of noise, so he started talking. “So, what do you do for a living? You know that I work at Star labs and whatnot, I was just curious as to what you do. Not that you have to do anything, It would be totally fine if you were unemployed, yeah that would be cool. Unemployment can totally be cool. Yeah.” Cisco realized that he was rambling like an idiot, so he shut himself up as they walked up to the restaurant.
