“It’s not really recommended that one drinks an entire bottle of bourbon by their lonesome,” Stefan quipped to the other before starting again. “But I’m not letting that stop me.”
Samantha looked at the man before her and could tell something was off about him but couldn’t figure out what it was. She had a cup of coffee and she took a sip from it. “It’s never a good idea to drink alone but I am not in the mood for a drink. Maybe later.” She said. “Any reason why you are drinking?” She asked.
“Not a good idea?
I do it quite literally everyday.” Stefan scoffed and shrugged his shoulders. “More for me then.” He poured himself another shot’s worth in his rocks glass, taking a small sip before looking at the woman. “I’m drinking because once again, I’ve been left in the dust by my supposed family.” Klaus had left him behind in Mystic falls to make a run down to New Orleans, telling him that he can come down in a week, but no sooner. Stefan hated being treated like a child, but he knew his older brother knew best.
Over the last century, Samantha had spent most of her immortal life traveling the world and trying to find a place where she could call home. Everywhere she would go, she never could find one single, solitary place. After years of traveling and moving from place to place, Sam knew that the only place she would be able to call home…was Mystic Falls.
Arriving back in town was a bit of an adjustment for the vampire. It had been at least a few decades since the last time she was in Mystic Falls. It was a different scene than what she remembered but she was very much capable of adjusting to everything new. She walked into what was now called ‘Mystic Bar and Grill’ and she looked around and went immediately for the bar. She ordered her a drink and she looked at her surroundings, taking every bit of it in.
Elena walked into the Mystic Grill and made a beeline for the bar. She simply nodded to the bartender, her dear friend Matt, and he poured her a shot. “Thanks, Matt,” she responded as it was set in front of her.
She downed the shot in one swift move before taking a seat at the bar. She glanced over at the new face beside her and nodded in greeting. “You new around here?”
“I’m definitely a breakfast person. Waffles, to be exact. French toast is a close second, though,” Tom smiled as their hands met fully for the first time. “Any idea when you get to bust out of this place?”
“Uhh I dunno…I’ve tried to ask but the nurses beat around the bush or just do what they need to do and leave” he said shrugging his shoulders “I’m assuming in a day or two..um perhaps if I press this button we can get an actual doctor in here to ask or a nurse that knows?”
Tom sighed. “Typical Nurses at this hospital. They’re great at what they do, but aren’t much for conversation. Here. I’ll go ask and get to the bottom of it. I have some sway with the nurses.” He grinned, popping up from his seat and darting out the door. He was gone for less than 5 minutes before popping back in the room with a mischievous grin on his face and his hands behind his back. Tom leaned against the door frame. “You were right. A few more days. Three, at the most. They gave me this,” he stated, wiggling the device where Gerald could see it as he walked over and resumed his place at the bedside. “It’s called a spirometer. It’s meant to exercise your lungs and to help good oxygen get into every nook and cranny of those poor, smoke riddled lungs of yours,” Tom joked, handing the device to the other. “You breathe in, trying to get the marker to this line,” he explained. “But not too often, your lungs still need time to recover.”
“Oh good and it’s probably cause your so handsome or that your super nice one of those things but to late boys and gals I asked him out and I don’t share” he mused grinning waggling his eyebrows playfully taking the device tilting his head a bit before trying it out only getting little over half way.
Tom cocked his shoulders back and forth. “Yeaah, I’m spoken for,” he grinned, speaking to the empty room. Tom watched as the man worked the spirometer. “Hey, better than the average person who was pulled from a raging fire in the last 24 hours,” he quipped, settling into his position once more with his body leaned on the bed railing. “So, we know each other’s names, but I think we should probably get to know each other a little more before our date, hmm? So, what is your favorite…” Tom’s voice trailed as he thought of something to ask. “Ice cream flavor?”
Elena raised her eyebrows. “Classic Rock? Interesting. I have some Queen in my playlist, that okay?” She began driving, backing out and then pulling out onto the highway. “We’re only about 30 minutes away, so we can have some major jams in the meantime.” A grin spread across her face as she cocked her shoulders, looking at Anthony briefly before turning her attention back to the road.
“I’m down with queen and boy bands sometimes well back street boys mostly..I liked me some Kevin and Brian” he mused grinning doing a little dance in his seat shimmying his shoulders laughing lightly “let’s go with queen first though “
Elena raised her eyebrows at the other, a laugh escaping her lips as he danced in his seat. “Boy bands are always a good go to,” she smiled as she drove down the highway. “Siri, play Queen on Spotify,” she directed towards her phone. In seconds, Bohemian Rhapsody was playing through the speakers, Elena bopping her head to the music. “So, what are your brothers like?”
“But, coffee stains. That’s gonna be a bitch to get out,” Stefan said apologetically. He rubbed his thumb over the other’s soft hand and smiled lightly. “Not at all. It’s actually really nice, your hands are warm. I wonder how your father would feel about this,” Stefan quipped with a little chuckle.
Ray’s eyes twinkled with anticipation & adoration. His smile only widened at her calling him a ‘silly man.’ Ray took the ring out and slid it gingerly onto her finger. His gaze shifted back to her face as his hands cupped her face. “I love you, too, Amelia.” Ray finished his sentence with a deep kiss, halfway between kneeling and standing
Kissing him back, she smiled, cupping his cheek. “The ring is perfect.” Amelia looked at it, realizing it was somehow just like she was. A perfect combination of being bad ass and a real girly girl.
“It looks great on you,” Ray smiled, pulling his chair closer to hers and sitting down. “I found that while we were out traveling on the Waverider. Had Gideon hide it so Mick and Len wouldn’t snag it and pawn it off.”
She kept looking at it. “So it is from a different time?” Amelia smiled “Oh that’s amazing.” She looked at him. “I am going to be your wife!” Amelia cheered
Ray nodded with a dopey grin on his face. “Yeah, different time, different place. A purely unique ring for a purely unique woman.” He beamed, watching Amelia admire the ring. “Yeah, Marriage! Would you want to get married before or after our little one arrives?” Ray asked the question that had kept him up at night, hoping that she had a more definitive answer than he did.
“Damnit, why doesn’t anyone ever listen to me around here?” The newly certified paramedic muttered under his breath as his patient was wheeled away. Tom looked up at you, his partner, and sighed heavily. “Do you think I’ll ever get a decent reputation around here?”
Like her mother, Ashley worked at the hospital as a doctor. She smirked, shaking her head. “All supernatural have a kind of reputation around here.” She told him.
Watching her father walking inside the hospital, she sighed deep. “Oh crap.” Ashley pulled him inside an empty room, closing the door. 1
Tom snapped his gaze at the woman. “Supernatural? What do you mean, supernatural,” he asked in a rushed whisper.
He was taken by surprise when she pulled him into an empty hospital room. “Why did you drag me in here? I have a job to do. An ambulance to run.”
