“Maybe it’s opposite day,” Stefan teased, looking over at the man once they were in the coffee shop. He couldn’t place his finger on it, but the man looked so familiar. “Something sweet usually pairs well with a dark coffee. Balances out the bitterness,” he replied, stepping up to order. “I’ll have a drip coffee and a scone, please. Oh, and whatever he’s having.” Stefan motioned to Miles with a smile.

MY MUSE IS NOT ALWAYS RIGHT

Please keep in mind that, however hard my muse may argue something or however confidently they make a statement, they can be wrong. It’s my muse’s opinion, and my muse talking, and their perception is skewed.
Do not feel like everything out of my character’s mouth is the truth, or that I’m godmodding.

“I know bits and pieces, just me being nosy between my own calls,” Tom confessed, knowing he wasn’t supposed to tell anyone. “I heard there was a nasty fire, and someone was trapped inside under a beam. They said they didn’t know how long you’d been in there, and they were having a hard time getting in. Next thing I heard on the radio, they were en-route to the hospital, with the patient stabilizing despite serious injuries.” Tom couldn’t find it in himself to look away from the man’s gorgeous eyes. “I think so, too. I’m glad I’m so oblivious to door numbers and stumbled into you.”

“So I wasn’t in great condition when they got me so they had to stabilize me? That’s scary I never been in that situation before where my life was in danger” Gerald said pursing his lips together giving puppy dog eyes sighing shaking his head “okay let’s talk about something else..so tell me about yourself?”

Tom nodded. “Yeah, it’s scary. When your body isn’t stable, it’s very dangerous.” He looked up at the monitor. “You’re pretty stable now, though. Nothing to worry about.” A smile pulled at the side of his lips. “Yeah, sure. Something else. Hmm.” Tom wracked his brain, trying to find something to talk about. “Are you dating anyone?”

“Oh good I’m glad that’s the case” Gerald said giving a small smile relaxing a bit when the other changed the subject finally he wasn’t sure if he wanted to talk and he wasn’t sure if he even wanted to remember, Gerald never had to worry about this type of thing before it was strange “hm? Dating anyone? No I’m not..single as a Pringle”

“Me too,” Tom admitted, his cheeks becoming rosy and blushed. He reached a hand down from the railing and trailed his fingers along Gerald’s arm. “Me too,” he grinned, tucking his fingers back into his crossed arms. Tom was thankful for whatever fate had led him here, and his face showed it. A soft smile was plastered on his face, and he couldn’t bring his gaze away from the other’s face.

Elena looked at the other. “Maybe they did some sort of compulsion to make you forget? Do you know of any supernatural beings?” She didn’t want to dump the existence of vampires on him just yet, especially after she just dumped all of the other information on Anthony. “A telepath? What does that even mean?”

“I would have no idea..and yes I do know of supernatural beings” he said nodding as he looked to her curiously his eyebrows furrowing “yes that means I can make things float with my brain and such but my brothers are technically hunters of the evil side of the supernatural world, why?”

Elena’s brow scrunched in confusion. “Okay, Telepathy. Cool. Now, Brothers?” She was at least thankful that he was taken in by somebody, taken care of while he was gone. “Were they good to you? Did they take good care of you?”

“They are over protective and if I let my emotions get ahead of me my powers kind of go all wonky yea” he said shrugging looking to his apparent sister with puppy dog eyes “now why have you asked if I know about the supernatural?”

“I totally get overprotectiveness,” Elena sympathized, knowing she had a pair of overprotective brothers herself. “I asked because I’m surrounded by it. I’m supernatural. I mean, technically.” She still had a hard time believing that, even as a human, she was unsure how she could be supernatural merely by being a

doppelgänger.

“Oh, okay. Here, wear this. It’s more resistant to the wind,” Stefan responded, handing the man one of his leather jackets out of the closet. “It’s much warmer than it looks.” Stefan let his fingers linger on the man’s arm, a warm smile being brought to his face. “You are very welcome, Mr.

Mikaelson.”

“Oh thank you” he said happily as he took the jacket slowly putting the jacket on curiously making sure his hood was out of his jacket bouncing on his toes a bit grinning giving a small hum as he noticed the hand on his arm before looking up tilting his head a bit “alright mister Salvatore shall we get some coffee then?”

“You’re welcome,” Stefan beamed, feeling his phone vibrate in his pocket. He pulled it out and saw it was Saltzman. He sent a quick reply and slipped his phone back into his pocket. “Yeah, coffee. Let’s go,” he responded, opening the door for the other. “What’s your favorite kind of drink? I feel like you might be either a super sugary or super dark guy, but not so much an in-between.”

“Oh well thank you” he said happily smiling looking over to the side to see one of his uncles spies run off not sure what would happen next but he suppose he would wait and see his attention soon snapping back to the other humming lightly nodding “it depends on my mood..but you are spot on..today I’m all got a black coffee and what about yourself? What coffee do you fancy?”

“I’m usually a black coffee kind of guy, but I’m feeling like a little cream and sugar today,” Stefan shrugged, leading the way to the coffee shop around the corner from his apartment. He turned his head to look back at the other, noticing an odd familiarity about him for the first time since they’d met. He opened the coffee shop door for the other. “Get whatever you’d like. It’s all on me.”
